The article discusses a study on the perceptions of library and information science (LIS) professionals about the Higher Education Commission (HEC) National Digital Library (NDL) programme in Pakistan. It states that the HEC NDL provides access to databases and electronic journals (e-journals) and electronic books (e-books), and is accessible by approximately 250 universities and non-profit research organizations. According to the study, most of the respondents accessed the NDL databases through the HEC Website. It also revealed that 40 percent of LIS professionals used less than 40 percent of all HEC NDL databases in providing service to end users. An overview of the obstacles faced by LIS professionals about the use of the NDL that negatively affect their use is offered.
