Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli käynnistää äiti-lapsiryhmä Kotkan Helluntaiseurakunnassa syksyllä 2016. Alkavan toiminnan tavoitteena oli tarjota äideille vertaistukea, mukavaa yhteistä tekemistä lapsen kanssa sekä tukea äitien hyvinvointia ja jaksamista arjessa. Äideille haluttiin antaa mahdollisuus vaikuttaa ryhmän toiminnan sisältöön. Tarkoituksena oli jatkaa ryhmän toimintaa käynnistymisen jälkeen. Ryhmä suunnattiin kotkalaisille äideille, jotka ovat kotona alle kouluikäisten lastensa kanssa. Teoreettisessa osuudessa käsitellään varhaista vuorovaikutusta, kiintymyssuhdetta, vanhemmuutta, äitiyttä, äidiksi kasvamista ja äidin jaksamista. Siinä perehdytään ver-taisryhmän ja vertaistuen määritelmiin, niiden merkitykseen, vertaistoiminnan eri muo-toihin sekä vertaistukiohjaajan rooliin. Lisäksi käsitellään perhetyötä. Opinnäytetyö on toiminnallinen opinnäytetyö, jossa tiedonhankintamenetelminä ovat kysely, havainnointi ja palaute. Ennen ryhmän käynnistämistä kohderyhmään kuuluville äideille jaettiin toivekartoituskysely. Vastausten pohjalta suunniteltiin tulevaa toimintaa. Opinnäytetyö koostuu neljän ensimmäisen kerran suunnittelusta, toteutuksesta ja havainnoinnista. Lisäksi kävijöiltä kerättiin suullista palautetta. Havainnoinnin perusteella ryhmän käynnistämiselle oli merkittävä tarve. Toimintakerrat tavoittivat yhteensä 8 äitiä ja 14 lasta. Ryhmään osallistui viikoittain keskimäärin neljä äitiä ja kuusi lasta. Palautteesta nousi esille tyytyväisyys äiti-lapsiryhmän toimintaa kohtaan, yhteisten keskustelujen tärkeys ja kokemus vertaistuen onnistumisesta. Ryhmän toiminta jatkuu toukokuun loppuun 2017. ; The aim of this Bachelor´s thesis was the launching of mother-child group in Kotka Pentecostal Church in the autumn 2016. The purpose of the activity was to provide peer support for the mothers, offer them good time with their children and support their well-being in everyday life. The aim of this thesis was also to give the mothers opportunity to influence the content of the group meetings and to set up permanent mother-child group activity. The group was directed for mothers in Kotka area, who were at home with children under school age. The theoretical part of the Bachelor´s thesis includes early interaction, attachment, parenthood, motherhood and well-being of mothers. It also focuses on the definition and the meaning of the peer support and peer support group, variety of peer support and the role of peer counselor. The family work is handled at the end of the theoretical part. The Bachelor´s thesis is a functional thesis using questionnaire, observation and feedback as the research methods. The survey of the expectations was conducted for the targeting group before the launching of the mother-child group. The activity was planned using the results of the survey. The functional part of the thesis consists of the planning, conducting and observation of the first four group meetings. Feedback was also collected from the participants. The results of the thesis highlighted the need for the mother-child group. The activity reached total 8 mothers and 14 children in the first four group meetings. Every week an average of four mothers and six children were participating in the group. The feedback revealed that the mothers were pleased with the group activity, conversations were important and peer support succeeded. The mother-child group will continue to meet until the end of May in 2017.
