Dalam proyek KPBU, pemerintah dan badan usaha berpartisipasi dalam proyek dan berbagi risiko. Oleh karena itu pemilihan badan usaha memiliki peran penting untuk meningkatkan keberlanjutan proyek KPBU jalan tol. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kriteria yang perlu diperhatikan dalam memilih badan usaha berdasarkan aspek keberlanjutan. Kriteria diidentifikasi melalui studi literatur. Metode Relative Important Index (RII) digunakan untuk menunjukkan nilai tingkat kepentingan dan peringkat masing masing kriteria. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kriteria kemampuan mengelola risiko sebagai peringkat tertinggi pertama, kriteria kemampuan mengelola operasional sebagai peringkat tertinggi kedua, kriteria program perbaikan lingkungan sebagai peringkat tertinggi ketiga, kriteria perencanaan finansial sebagai peringkat tertinggi keempat, dan kriteria sumber daya manusia sebagai peringkat tertinggi kelima.
