Centris (Xanthemisia) bicolor Lepeletier, 1841 Centris bicolor Lepeletier, 1841. 163. Type data: Syntype female (MNHP, not examined). Type locality: Brazil, Goiás state. Comments: According to the original description, the specimens of this species studied by Lepeletier were collected in “Capitainerie de Goyan”, currently Goiás state, Brazil and they were housed at MNHP. Unfortunately, there was not found any specimen under this name in that collection or in OUMNH that could be recognized as primary type. Some females of C. bicolor found at MNHP were collected before the description of the species and none from Goiás state. The yellowish pilosity on the laterosuperior surface of the mesosoma mentioned by Lepeletier (1841) that contrasts with the black hairs of the rest of the body allows identifying this species and separating it from C. lutea Friese, 1899.
