In classical Tamil literature, heroism is considered to be the foremost virtue and is revealed in the four hundred songs of Puranaanooru. Puranaanooru conveys that the kings are very brave and heroic. During the Sangam Period, the origin of heroism, people considered it a great privilege to be involved in the war. They considered war to be a noble profession and waited for war. In that sense, the poets have explained the events of the Sangam period wars. The king with the quest for fame and greed is engaged in the task of enslaving and intimidating another country. In the list of the Puranaanooru Kings, a battle takes place after the war to capture Aniruddha and was followed up with various tactics. There are thirteen songs about the war found in the Puranaanooru. They are sung in the four fields of ‘Kotra Vallai’ (4, 7, 41, 98, 100), ‘Thunai Vanchi’ (36, 45, 46, 47, 57, 213), ‘Mazha Pula Vanchi’ (16) and ‘Perunchotru Nilai’ (292). The wars fought by the Cheras, Cholas and Pandyas are depicted in these songs. Involuntary manoeuvres, not only kings but also warriors, have acquired the ability to go ahead and wait for the battlefield, such as engaging in timeless warfare and appearing to be warlike tradition and culture. Many poets sang about the events of the treacherous wars of plundering the enemy country, plundering the resources and destroying the lands - sang the praises of the war and asked the kings to give up the war to set up peace
