; Dealing with misinformation, disinformation and hate speech online is a topical topic. A UN policy directive, presented in June 2023, aims to tackle these phenomena. However, it does not seem appropriate to treat misinformation, disinformation and hate speech in the same way or in the same way as the UN draft currently provides. This blogpost therefore takes the view that at least false information – i.e. unintentionally incorrect statements – must be treated differently from deliberate false or offensive statements on the internet.
