The purpose of this study was to clarify the relationship between mechanical properties of skeletal muscle using tensiomyography (TMG) and subcutaneous fat thickness (FT). Subjects were 124 male athletes (age 20.8 ± 2.7 years, height 171.8 ± 6.4cm, weight 65.9 ± 10.9kg).TMG was used to assess mechanical characteristics in Rectus femoris muscle (RF).Maximal displacement of the muscle belly (Dm), muscle contraction time (Tc) and contraction velocity (V_90) were analyzed in all subjects (de Paula Simola et al., 2015).B-mode ultrasonic method was used to assess FT in RF. FT was not correlated to Dm (p = 0.172 ; r = −0.123).And also, FT was not correlated to Tc and V_90 (p = 0.186 ; r = −0.12, p = 0.334 ; r = −0.087). In this study, it was found that the Dm, Tc and V_90 was not affected by FT. From these result, it was considered that mechanical properties assessed by TMG not reflected to the thickness of subcutaneous fat.
