The Finnish Association for Milk hygiene promotes production of hygienic and safe milk of good quality along the whole dairy chain in Finland. The association celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. Members include municipal communities, dairy groups, associations of milk producers and veterinary hygienists. The board members represent veterinary science (University of Helsinki), oficials of the central authority (the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry), communal authorities and laboratories, dairies, milk producers and consumers, complemented by specialists from the Finnish Food Safety Authority, trade, feed companies and legislative administrative. The routine activities of the Association include collection and publication of annual statistics of milk quality and acting as a co-operation body between authorities, dairies, milk producers, consumers and markets.
