This article discusses some issues in Nguyen Khac Huynh’s article entitled "Paris Negotiation: Reviewing and Reflecting" ("Journal of Military History") which focused on two theoretical points. First, how the protest of Nguyen Van Thieu-President of the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam)-affected the United States’ decisions to diminish the war in Vietnam and to enter the negotiations with the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam). Second, was Linebacker II campaign (December 1972) a right decision? Based on realizable documents, this article analyzes the United States’ real plan in this international conference and concludes that, although it now wanted to end the war, the United States still sought to gain the upper hand in the negotiation and only stepped down after having suffered heavy losses in the battlefield.
