This article presents a review of Mati Mandel's "Kogu tode Hirmus-Antsust?" (The whole truth about Ants the Terrible?), a book about a legendary anti-Soviet Estonian partisan fighter, Ants Kaljurand (1917-1951), who, as a member of the para-military group, the "Forest Brothers," fought against the Soviet occupation of the Baltic states from the late 1930s to 1951, when he was captured and executed by the KGB. Kaljurand, nicknamed "Fearful Ants" or "Ants the Terrible," came to have a reputation as a fierce fighter -- even collaborating with Nazi forces against the Russians during World War II -- and Mandel's book efficiently and interestingly, yet in a not-always-to-digest text, examines what can be confirmed about his activities.
