Examines the portions of Nikita Khrushchev's memoirs, as published in Khrushchev Remembers (1970), concerning the Vietnam war with the United States and his discussions with with Ho Chi Minh, with a eye toward determining the veracity of Khrushchev's statements. While some of the stories told by Khrushchev appear to be false, most seem to reflect the attitudes of Soviet leaders toward Vietnam and its war with the Americans. The book has some value for scholars of Soviet-Vietnamese relations, of the international political position of Vietnam during the war, and of Ho Chi Minh's role in international communism.
