The article discusses the findings of the project entitled "Production and Marketing of Uncontaminated Cotton in Mali" sponsored by the Common Fund for Commodities. It was conducted between July 2006 and February 2008 in Niéna and Djidjan. Twenty cotton growers were selected from three villages in each of the sectors. Three types of contaminants were targeted by the study, namely organic contaminants, inorganic contaminants and packaging materials. It found that the average total quantity of contaminants found in the samples of seedcotton collected at the gins was 2,058 grams.
