The article argues that the success of the U.S. Marine Corps in Iraq is being impeded by the tempo of the warfighting, technology, and hubris. It is observed that the slow pace of counterinsurgency in Iraq has lulled the fighting forces into a sense that they are back in the garrison. It is also noted that the use of technology such as PowerPoint presentations has caused problems in command and control. It is also argued that many commands are no longer focused in winning.
