A biography of 18th century teacher and hymnwriter Philip Doddridge is presented. He was born in London to a very large family and attended John Jennings's Nonconformist Academy at Kibworth in Leicestershire. He started preaching in Hinckley and Market Harborough and was appointed pastor at Kibworth and later at the Independent Meeting House in Castle Hill, Northampton. He wrote a large number of hymns and those that were published were well known and well liked.
