Sciodrepoides watsoni (Spence, 1813) is the most common representative of family Leiodidae. It is saprophagous species, which occurs mainly in open landscapes. Recent works suggest that it can be used to post mortem interval estimation in times where commonly used flies are not active. I try to calculate lower developmental threshold (Tmin) and sum of effective temperatures (SET) by two methods and conclude the most accurate approach. Alive adults were collected by pitfall traps with bait (fish meat and ripe cheese) in vicinity of Bĕstvina, Praha and Raná (Czech Republic). They were placed in climabox with a constant temperature (15°C) where breeding take place. Eggs were periodically collected and development of each individual under one of three constant temperatures (15, 21 and 25°C) was observed. I use method which determines the development rate for each individual in experiment. I found that method provides better results with smaller statistical errors. The lower developmental threshold for larvae of S. watsoni was -0.05°C and the sum of effective temperatures were 151.7 day degrees. These values can be used for modelling of influence of global warming.
