This article focuses on photographs of the German army that were taken in German-occupied Poland during World War II, and discusses whether or not the images should be considered as historical source material. Several topics are discussed, including how the images taken during this time have been considered valuable sources of information on World War II by the media and historians, how the people taking the pictures were hired to create National Socialist (Nazi) propaganda, and how the images were most likely manipulated by the Nazi Ministry of Propaganda with the intention of making the enemies of the Nazis look weak and glorifying the German military. Also mentioned is how the people taking the pictures became a "propaganda troop" within the German army.
