This article provides a description of disorders with esophagogastric junction (EGJ) outflow obstruction, including achalasia and EGJ outflow obstruction. The study aimed to identify the clinical, paraclinical, and outcome characteristics of these disorders and determine predictive factors for response to different therapeutic modalities. The study included 87 patients with an average age of 48.9 years, and dysphagia was the dominant symptom. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed functional stenosis of the EGJ in 43% of cases. Therapeutic success was achieved in 65% of patients, with no significant difference between pneumatic dilation and Heller myotomy. Further randomized studies are needed to validate these results.
