A recent study conducted by researchers at Ningbo University in China aimed to develop a reliable signature using T cell marker genes (TMGs) to predict the prognosis and therapy responsiveness of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) patients. The study found that patients with high-risk scores based on the TMG signature had unfavorable progression-free survival, disease-specific survival, and overall survival. On the other hand, low-risk patients had a higher percentage of infiltrating immune cells and a higher incidence rate of immune-related events, suggesting favorable responsiveness to immunotherapy. Additionally, high-risk patients showed a greater degree of sensitivity to chemotherapy agents. The TMG signature identified in this study can serve as a prognostic marker and guide individualized immunotherapy and chemotherapy selection for HNSCC patients. [Extracted from the article]
