After the First World War, conflicts in interstate relations in Europe increased, and the political atmosphere became tense. The economic crisis that took place in the United States in 1929 affected the whole world, and thus both economic and political conflicts began. Especially in the Far East, with the aggressive policy of Japan and the expansionist movements of Germany and Italy, all countries in the world felt the need to strengthen their military forces. With the declaration of England and France that they would react against the states that followed expansionist policies, especially Germany, a war environment emerged. Turkey stated that it would be neutral in case of a possible war and announced this through the press. Turkey, which stated its position before the war broke out, did not change its attitude during the Second World War and followed an active neutrality policy. The aim of the study was to determine how a possible new war was perceived in the Turkish press both nationally and locally (Konya) and what kind of evaluations were made. In the study, Babalık and Ekekon from the Konya local press and Cumhuriyet, Akşam, Ulus, and Tan from the national press were used. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
