Caring has its maximum representation in nursing, attending to all human needs. Self-care are daily practices that each person performs to take care of their health and themselves. Patients with TMG are impaired in their ability to carry out proper self-care. Nursing is of vital importance providing help and supplementation, thus compensating for the limitations of self-care. Objective: To analyze the approach of self-care in the users of the Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit of Huelva. Method: Quantitative study (cross-sectional type) for self-care assessment of the users of the unit. Information is collected through the scale on the Life Skill Profile. Results: Four blocks are studied: hygiene and cleanliness, diet, adherence to treatment and antisocial behaviors; it is detected that there are certain needs in all of them, highlighting a greater deficit in treatment adherence and a balanced diet. Conclusions: There is a need for support and reinforcement of self-care in the patient with SMI, the role of nursing through health education and motivation is a key element to achieve change. El cuidar tiene su máxima representación en la enfermería atendiendo a todas las necesidades del ser humano y el autocuidado comprende unas prácticas cotidianas que realiza cada persona para cuidar de su salud. Los pacientes con trastorno mental grave ven mermadas sus capacidades para llevar a cabo un correcto autocuidado. La enfermería es de vital importancia proporcionando ayuda y suplencia compensando así las limitaciones de los autocuidados. Objetivo: Analizar el abordaje de los autocuidados en los usuarios de la Unidad de Rehabilitación de Salud Mental de Huelva. Método: Estudio cuantitativo (tipo trasversal) para valoración de autocuidados de los usuarios de la unidad. Se recoge la información a través de la escala sobre el perfil de habilidades de la vida cotidiana (Life Skill Profile). Resultados: Se estudian cuatro bloques: higiene y aseo, alimentación, adherencia al tratamiento y conductas antisociales; se detecta que en todas existen determinadas necesidades destacando mayor déficit en la adherencia al tratamiento y la dieta equilibrada. Conclusiones: Existe una necesidad de apoyo y refuerzo a los autocuidados en el paciente con TMG, el papel de la enfermería a través de la educación para la salud y la motivación es un elemento clave para conseguir el cambio [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
