Opened, predictable and fair global markets for goods and services can help strengthen efforts to battle against the global warming. Given that climate change significantly changes the ability of certain regions of the world to produce certain goods, it is expected that international trade will have a more important contribution to confronting global warming. Liberalization of trade in goods and services has significant potential for encouraging innovation in the direction of environmental protection. The World Trade Organization has dealt with these issues for years, but the negotiations are in a halt. It is necessary to take concrete steps in this liberalization, to develop priority lists of products and services where developing countries would be competitors too. The conclusion of this paper points to the fact that the uneven impact of the global warming and their implications on trade in goods and services, especially in developing countries, emphasizes the need for a balanced approach to policies that need to strengthen the adaptive role of trade, while supporting the most vulnerable.
