Information on the Wartburgkrieg poetic contest is presented. It is believed that the contest was held by the Count Hermann I of Thuringia, Germany at the Wartburg Castle in the 13th century and participated by poets Walther von der Vogelweide and Wolfram von Eschenbach, fictional figures and various spirits. The manuscripts that outlined the corpus of strophic poems dating between the 13th and 15th centuries include the Grosse Heidelberger (Manessische) Manuscript and the Kolmarer Manuscript.
