This article critically appraises several motion picture "The Great White Hype," directed by Reginald Hudlin. The producers have put out a two-hour-long trailer, compounded of special effects and recollections of box-office hits; and the suckers, lying to themselves, pretend they're watching a movie. As with any scam perpetrated by someone calling himself "reverend," the fraud is not only crass but pious, too. Another picture that's not to be missed: "Guimba--The Tyrant," written and directed by Mali's Cheick Oumar Sissoko. Narrated like a fable' by a lute-plucking griot, Guimba is set within the fantastically beautiful dried-mud walls of an old-style West African compound, where a despotic sorcerer holds sway.
