The article discusses a nursing workforce planning and development (WP&D) study that evaluates palliative care ward staffing by collecting data in hospice and palliative care wards. The study aimed and succeeded in adapting the workforce planning method used by the National Health Service (NHS), comparing hospices with existing data and developing multipliers to help hospice managers to adjust teams to suit local workloads.
