The article reports on the warning issued by the Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency (AHVLA) to the British livestock farmers to refrain from using poultry litter as bedding material due to possible outbreaks of botulism in bedded livestock, mainly cattle. Botulism is a disease that can cause muscle weakness, paralysis and death in the animals. The opinion of AHVLA's Robert Hogg on the subject is also cited.
