The article discusses the economic exchange within Swedish food distribution from the late 1940s to the early 1950s, with a particular focus on the wholesaler Hakonbolaget's reorganization of food distribution to its customers in the food retail trade, which is known as the Hakon deal. The goal of the Hakon deal in eliminating the need for the salesmen by relying on written order transactions through referencing commercial catalogues, is discussed. The role that the Hakon deal played in changing the economic order of supply and demand is also discussed.
