The article describes and illustrates Impatiens nzabiana, a new species of the Balsaminaceae family from Gabon. Impatioens nzabiana is distinguished from Impatiens kamerunensis by its narrow lanceolate leaf shape, long appendage on the lower lateral petal and the presence of long fimbriae at the leaf base. Molecular data supports Impatiens nzbiana's sister group relationship with Impatiens oumina. The article also presents ecological data and a hypothesis on the evolutionary history of the new species.
