There are various heritage-based tourist attractions in Kuala Lumpur which also contribute to income, employment, and business opportunities. This study aims to identify potential locations as heritage tourist attractions in Kuala Lumpur and examining the factors which influenced tourists visiting the heritage tourist attractions such as historic buildings and their history, and others. A total of 317 respondents were selected using the simple sampling method comprising of visitors, domestic tourists, and international tourists visiting the main destinations in Kuala Lumpur, namely Eco forest, Merdeka Square, Central Market, Masjid Jamek, National Monument, National Museum, Kampung Baru, Sultan Abdul Samad Building, and the Old Railway Station Building. The descriptive analysis is presented in the form of diagrams and charts to depict the demographic profile, whilst mean analysis is used to analyse the factors influencing the respondents to visit Kuala Lumpur. The findings of the study indicated that Merdeka Square is the main heritage location that attracts majority local and international respondent tourists. Cultural heritage (cultural heritage products) is the main factor influencing the arrival of respondent tourists to Kuala Lumpur. Hence, the uniqueness and glory of the historical heritage of the city of Kuala Lumpur is the most important element in attracting the arrival of domestic and foreign tourists. The findings of this study can contribute and provide input to various stakeholders in the implementation of the preservation and conservation strategies of the heritage tourism products in Malaysia.
