Safety of different insecticides to mealybug parasitoid, Aenasius bambawalei Hayat (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae).

Safety of insecticides to A. bambawalei was evaluated using dry film method at 24, 48 and 72 hr after treatment in completely randomized design and replicated thrice. The experiment comprised of 8 insecticidal treatments and water spray as a check and results showed that thiamethoxam, profenophos, lamda-cyhalothrin and quinalphos were more toxic insecticide as 97.22, 97.11, 96.44 and 92.56 per cent mortality of A. bambawalei adults, respectively. Azadirachtin was safest with 34.97 per cent followed by indoxacarb 40.42 per cent and imidacloprid 49.36 per cent mortality. However azadirachtin and indoxacarb was safer insecticides and hence can be used in the fields exhibiting higher parasitisation of P. solenopsis due to A. bambawalei. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
