Sonoreactor optimization for ultrasound assisted oxidative desulfurization of liquid hydrocarbon.

In this study, the geometrical parameters of sonoreactor like the probe, reactor diameters, probe immersion depth and amplitude are assessed. The reaction time and H2O2 concentration effect on the sulfur removal efficiency are studied. The results indicate that, first, an increase in probe diameter decreases the efficiency of the process and further increase up to 40 mm diameter increases desulfurization efficiency up to 98.25%. An increase in probe immersion depth, increases desulfurization efficiency. Reactor diameter of 7.4 cm among other diameters (6.1, 6.5, 8 cm and 8.6 cm) achieved higher desulfurization efficiency.
