The history of British expansion of power in Malaya is closely linked to British colonialism that ended with the advantage to the British. The same thing happened in the Federated Malay States in the First World War when Malaya was threatened with various threats and foreign influences from Germany and Turkey that could threaten British colonial power. Recognising this, the British have enacted and amended vital policies during wartime in order to maintain the control. However, despite British efforts to strengthen political domination in the Malay states, the threat of German and Turkish influence remained until the First World War ended. Therefore this article will analyze the extent of British colonialism in the First World War to strengthen its dominance in the Federated Malay States. This study used qualitative research methods based on primary sources such as Proceeding of the Federal Council, Government Gazette and the state secretariat files. Initial results showed that the British effort in the implementation of policies during the war have succeeded in strengthening its interests in Malaya, particularly Federated Malay States. The First World War had allowed the British to strengthen his control through the legislation and amendment of policies in the Federated Malay States. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
