The article analyzes the role of A578S Single-Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) in K13-propeller as marker of resistance to artemisinin among Africans infected with Plasmodium falciparum. It mentions reasons due to which A578S SNP is considered as marker which include located at 2 amino acids prior to the C580Y SNP; exchange of neutral nonpolar with a neutral polar amino acid; and articles reflecting K13-propeller polymorphisms in P. falciparum.
